Android - How to close / hide Android Soft Keyboard?

Having an EditText and a Button in my layout. After writing inside the edit field and clicking on the Button, I want to hide the virtual keyboard. I guess there should be a simple, one- or two-liner to make this happen. Where can I find an example of it?

Android :: Can't change keyboard on my HTC Inspire

I can't seem to change the keyboard on my new htc inspire it only gives me the options of QWERTY, Phone Keypad, Compact QWERTY. Even after i have installed a different keyboard it will not appear in the list to use. Someone please help cause the default keyboard sucks really bad.
